On behalf of the Sacred Heart College Board of Trustees, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Maria Neville-Foster as our next Principal.  Maria will join Sacred Heart College ready to begin Term One next year.
 
Maria moved to New Zealand from Ireland in 2006. Since then she has been teaching at Havelock North High School where she has been a member of the senior management team for 7 years, with the later 3 and half as Deputy Principal. Maria graduated with an honors Bachelor's degree in Science Education. Following this she was awarded a scholarship and completed her Master of Arts in Education from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She is passionate about education and young people. Maria's main strengths as Deputy Principal have been leading a robust and successfully functioning guidance/pastoral care team. Leading Te Waka Awhina (a committee of teachers and parents dedicated to the success of Maori students) which has made significant improvement in Maori achievement since 2014. She is an excellent communicator with strong cultural awareness as well as being able to inspire, nurture and develop staff to achieve their full potential. She supports both sporting and cultural activities in the school environment and believes involvement in these are important to the development of the whole person. Maria was born into a Catholic family and the Catholic faith is an integral part of her life. She is looking forward to making her faith a central part of her professional life and is excited about leading a proud, positive and innovative school, while inspiring and enhancing the Catholic character of Sacred Heart College.
